Takahiro Kaneyama

Memory plays a strong role in Takahiro Kaneyama's introspective and evocative photography. After his grandmother died, Kaneyama began taking photos of the remaining women who raised him – his schizophrenic mother and two aunts as an act of remembrance and preservation. Since 2008 he has been taking photographs in a small fishing village in northern Japan, the original hometown of his mother's family.
