The Living Shrine series documents sacred sites in the Uyghur Region of Western China, created during pilgrimages, many of which have been maintained over several centuries. Adorned with small devotional offerings that mark a prayer or visit, the shrines are spaces where the sacred and profane connect. Black Garden (Resilience Reach) embodies the energy of a holy marker, becoming an oasis, a place of protection, and an intermediary between two worlds.
