Rose Farrell & George Parkin Australian, b. 1949
Rose Farrell (1949-2015) & George Parkin (1949-2012) were the leading contemporary artists based in Melbourne, Australia and exhibited worldwide. Since 1985, they have created dramatic photographic tableaus with imagery of secrets and mysteries from which their iconography has evolved.
Farrell & Parkin’s intellectual and labor-intensive working process is fascinating. They were antiquarians who researched the history of lost knowledge; they were designers and fabricators of scenic props such as huge drawings and life-sized papier-mache furniture or figures.
