In 2011, Joo Myung Duck began exploring color photography. As in his previous black-and-white landscapes, this work is rooted in his close observation of his surroundings while walking outdoors. In this work, the artist’s eye was simply attracted to a dark-brown painted wall, and the resulting shot remarkably extracted the revelatory rhythms and texture of paint patches rendered by the hand of an ordinary workman.
