This medium size sculpture is made of six different kinds of wood and two interlocking parts. Its body sits on a small square frame as well as an edge of uneven “koa” wood, one of the key species of trees found throughout Hawaii’s natural forest ecosystems. The square frame provides a miniature window, and the larger uneven opening frames an unusual expanse of scenery behind it. These two different vistas as well as the combination of different colors and texture of the wood, make this work highly idiosyncratic.
