This year, we are proud to present a focused duo exhibition featuring the work of Melissa Shook and Ken Ohara, two pioneering portrait photographers who emerged from the vibrant New York photography scene of the 1970s.
Though distinct in approach, both Shook and Ohara pushed the boundaries of portraiture—Shook through her intimate, diaristic self-documentation and collaborative portrait projects, and Ohara through his radical experiments with temporality and duration in photographic form. Their practices offer powerful counterpoints and continuities, revealing new dimensions of the portrait as both encounter and archive.
